🗓️ Why June Is the Best Time for a Half-Day Fishing Trip in Alaska

June marks the beginning of prime fishing season on Alaska’s most productive rivers. Here’s what makes June so special:

  • Sockeye Salmon (Red Salmon) begin their run around June 11, and their numbers grow fast. These hard-fighting fish are perfect for anglers of all skill levels.

  • Rainbow Trout & Dolly Varden fishing opens on the same date, offering incredible catch-and-release opportunities in beautiful water.

  • Fewer crowds in early summer means a more peaceful, intimate fishing experience.

  • Wildlife is abundant—moose, bald eagles, and maybe even a bear spotting!

With multiple species available and consistent action, June is a fantastic time to fish, especially if you want to avoid the peak-season hustle of July.
