If Alaska salmon fishing is on your bucket list, there’s no better time than 2025—and no better way to do it than with us at Kenai Fly Fish. With nearly two decades on the river, I’ve seen a lot—but every season brings something new. This year’s salmon runs are shaping up strong, and we’re ready to make your trip unforgettable.

📅 Why 2025 Is the Perfect Year to Fish the Kenai

Every season is special, but 2025 has all the signs of being one for the books:

  • Healthy sockeye runs expected in both the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers

  • 6-fish daily limit for sockeye (June 20–August 15) for maximum take-home value

  • Extended silver salmon action into late August and early September

  • Trophy rainbow trout feeding on the tail end of the sockeye spawn

  • And most of all—no King salmon closures to worry about because we’re not focused on them. We’re targeting the species that are actually biting and legally open.

🚤 What to Expect on a Guided Trip with KFF

We make it easy to show up and fish:

  • All gear provided—rods, tackle, waders, and fillet service included

  • Options for drift boat, jet boat, or power boat trips

  • Flexible start times based on tide charts and fishing conditions

  • Half-day, three-quarter-day, and full-day options for individuals or groups

“You focus on the fish. We handle the rest.” – Ian

🐟 Salmon Species We Target

At Kenai Fly Fish, we time our trips to hit each species when they’re at their best:

  • Sockeye Salmon (Reds): Mid-June through early August

  • Silver Salmon (Cohos): Late July through September

  • Pink Salmon: Even-year bonus species, great for kids (August)

  • Rainbow Trout & Dolly Varden: All season, but best in late summer/fall

Note: King salmon fishing is closed for 2025—but that doesn’t mean you’ll miss out. Sockeye and silver runs are more consistent, and trout fishing is on fire post-spawn.

🏞️ It’s About More Than Just the Fish

This isn’t just a fishing trip—it’s a full Alaskan immersion. From bald eagles circling overhead to moose wandering the shoreline, every day on the river offers something memorable. Many of our clients say it’s the most peaceful and awe-inspiring trip they’ve ever taken.
