Whether you’re a first-timer, a family traveler, or a seasoned angler, here’s what you need to know about planning a fishing trip in Alaska—any time of year.

🗺️ Where to Go for the Best Fishing Trip in Alaska

The Kenai Peninsula is Alaska’s most accessible and productive freshwater fishing destination. And two rivers stand above the rest:

Kenai River

  • World-famous fishery known for trophy rainbow trout and salmon runs

  • Power boat access for maximum water coverage

  • Great for half-day or full-day combo trips targeting multiple species

  • Perfect for anglers who want action and variety

🛶 Kasilof River

  • Motor-free drift boat river known for peaceful floats and wildlife viewing

  • Ideal for families and beginners

  • Sockeye, silver, pink, and king salmon (select seasons)

  • A quiet, scenic alternative to the busy Kenai

You can’t go wrong. In fact, many guests fish both rivers during their Alaska stay.
